The IPSL International Support Unit (ISU)
The IPSL International Support Unit (ISU) aims through various actions to provide a link between the national community (CNFCG – French National Committee for Global Change) and international actors (WCRP – World Climate Research Programme, Future Earth, etc.) in the field of Global Change.
The International Support Unit ensures logistical activities between the IPSL and the major national and international programs on the study of the global environment of the planet. The support unit is particularly involved in the setting up of major conferences and in the realization of various websites or documents in their technical and editorial aspects allowing:
- the coordination of national or international working groups
- the valorization of research results for different audiences.
The activity of the International Support Unit helps to strengthen international collaborations on climate and global change issues between researchers from different French institutions working on the subject and contributes to the influence of the IPSL, and the CNRS, on the international scene.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
Created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the objective of the IPCC is to provide governments at all levels with scientific information that they can use to develop climate policies. IPCC reports are also a key input into international climate change negotiations. The IPCC is an organization of governments that are members of the United Nations or WMO.
